A brindle Boston Terrier has a coat of dark stripes over a lighter brown or reddish base, sometimes called a tiger-stripe pattern, with the breed's usual white blaze, muzzle and chest.
Brindle is not only allowed by the AKC standard, it is named first: "Brindle, seal, or black with white markings. Brindle is preferred only if all other qualities are equal."
The striping can be subtle. Many brindle puppies look almost black indoors and only show their stripes outside, so look for daylight photos when you're choosing.
No, brindle is a standard, recognized color. Well-defined striping with even white markings is still highly sought after.
Seal looks black but has a reddish cast in bright light. Brindle has visible stripes of darker and lighter hair.
